DESCRIPTION:This event is canceled \, due to the minimum number of registrants not being met. \nIt’s time to warm-up\, as the temperatures have dropped and winter is upon us!  \nJoin us for an easy/moderate hike\, along the Houston Meadow Trail\, which will get the heart pumping\, as well as kiddos moving\, giving a feeling of energy\, warmth\, and activity.  If that doesn’t work for getting warmed-up\, the hike ends at an awesome playground site\, where kids can be active and run about like it’s a hot summer day.  Keep in mind that we will be outdoors the entire time\, as there is no indoor center open at the time we are on-site. \nTo Be Clear: The hike start is NOT where the hike ends\, though we will only be about a 10-minute sidewalk/paved walk from where the hike ends. \nTRAIL/HIKE DETAILS\nThis is an easy/slightly moderate hike along varied dirt\, rock\, grassy\, and gravel terrain. There are some slopes and inclines. It is NOT stroller-friendly and takes at least 30-50 minutes to complete. There are NO bathroom facilities\, so plan accordingly.  This is NOT a stroller-accessible trail and does involve walking up/down hills and traveling on varied terrain – soil\, mulch\, grass\, pavement\, etc. \nREGISTRATION:  Strongly suggested\, since registering allows us to share last-minute cancelation and/or change in programming details with you.  Should you have any issues registering\, please contact us at 866-878-3595. \nSTART TIME(S):  The hike will start promptly at 11AM (We cannot guarantee waiting for late-comers. SUMMARY:(Indoor/Outdoor) Hidden "Leaf" Creations
DESCRIPTION:Ever thought\, “Let’s go find some hidden treasures.”  Well\, that’s what we’ll be doing during this session\, though with a spin… we’ll be finding things that can normally only be seen in winter. Participants will be guided along one of Heinz’s easy trails\, and now that many trees are bare due to the winter transition\, we can see beyond them or what’s been hidden on them – such as wasp nests\, bird nests\, squirrel nests\, etc.  This program will have time indoors\, as well as outdoors. \nAs we look up high\, we’ll also look low\, for leaves\, to collect and use for our craft creation.  We’ll have fun making cute creative “Leaf People” out of the leaves and nature items we find. \nStart Time:  11am (Please be on-time\, since we cannot guarantee waiting for late attendees.) \nMeeting Location: John Heinz Visitor Center entryway. SUMMARY:CANCELED - (Outdoors) It's Almost Winter: Fun Meanderings Around the Farm
DESCRIPTION:Due to inclement weather this program has been canceled. \nJoin us for a relatively quick and easy hike along the Farm side of Awbury Arboretum’s grounds\, as well as for some fun activities.  We’ll meander along the trail\, where we’ll explore and seek out items that are listed on our kid-friendly scavenger hunt sheets. Once we’re done\, we can play a winterly fun round (or two) of BINGO\, as well as get creative with a winter craft activity for kids to color/decorate.  Throughout the program\, participants might be able to view the goats\, chickens\, pollinator gardens\, beekeeper hives\, and trails\, on their own\, allowing time to enjoy at your leisure.
