DESCRIPTION:Join us for an 9:00am Archery mini-session lesson during Let’s Go Outdoors’ “Drop-In Archery” program at Awbury Recreation Center.  Starts promptly at 9:00am.  You’ll have fun learning how to SAFELY use a bow and arrow to shoot a target. \nThis is NOT a full archery lesson – it is a mini-lesson experience allowing participants to try archery. DESCRIPTION:This event has been canceled. \nWe’re 4 days away from the start of Fall and what better way to get in gear than taking a hike.  Enjoy an easy/moderate hike along the Houston Meadow Trail ending at Houston Recreation Center’s awesome playground! \nThe hike start is NOT where the hike ends\, though we will only be about a 10-minute sidewalk/paved walk from where the hike ends.  Parents/Caregivers are also able to finish the hike\, then drive to where the playground is located. \nTRAIL/HIKE DETAILS\nThis is an easy/slightly moderate hike along varied dirt\, rock\, grassy\, gravel terrain. There are some slopes and inclines and takes at least 30-50 minutes to complete\, based on the level and interests of participants. There are NO bathroom facilities\, so plan accordingly.  This is NOT a stroller accessible trail. \nSTART TIME:  The hike will start promptly at the following times: 11 am (We cannot guarantee waiting for late-comers. DESCRIPTION:This event has been canceled. \nIt’s the FALL season\, so the leaves are changing color and drifting to the ground!  ALSO\, it may seem like wildlife is starting to hide\, but wait\, maybe we’ll spot animals that enjoy the Fall season\, as we travel along the scenic Boardwalk Trail Loop at John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge! \nAs we walk along the trail\, we’ll see what we see\, hear sounds of nature\, and maybe identify some of the leaves beneath our feet or trees that grow tall around us.  Upon finishing our leisurely nature walk\, we’ll take time for some decorative fun.  Kids will receive blank paper note-cards to create a personalized card using our leaf etchings and crayons. \nStart Time: 11am (If you arrive late\, you may miss the scenic trail stroll along the boardwalk loop.) \nRegistration:  Strongly suggested\, since registering allows us to share last-minute cancelation and/or change in programming details with you.  Should you have any issues registering\, please contact us at 866-878-3595. \nMeet Location:  In the vicinity of the Visitor Center entrance.  Look for a Let’s Go Outdoors Educator.  If you don’t see them\, please contact us at 866-878-3595.
