November 17, 2024 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Free

Celebrate National Take a Hike Day in two states! Join us for a family-friendly afternoon walk over the Delaware River via the Ben Franklin Bridge.

We will meet at La Colombe Coffee Roasters to warm up with a hot beverage, and will walk to the South Entrance of the Ben Franklin Bridge. From there we will walk over the bridge. Once across the bridge in Camden we will walk to the RCA Pier. After a break we will head back over the bridge via the PATCO train to 8th & Market. Sierra Club will provide PATCO passes.

Come prepared for beautiful walk with views of both cities, and stunning views of the Delaware River beneath us.

This walk will take about 2-3 hours and is about 4 miles total.

Route Details: This will be a 4 mile walk on paved surfaces the entire time. When walking over the bridge, There will be a long gradual incline and decline. Expect wind and cold, brisk temperatures. The bridge walkway is blocked off completely from cars, but there will be other walkers and cyclists on the bridge. Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome. If you have never walked over a major bridge before, know that we will be high up and walking over the water, and there will be heightened noise due to wind and cars on the bridge.

In the event the weather is too cold to walk over the bridge, an alternative route will be made available for the day.
